The Cherry Hinton bellringers, joined by a few others, spent an enjoyable day ringing quarter peals at a range of other towers in Cambridgeshire, heading west along the A14. The first quarter peal was arranged at Willingham (11cwt, 6), where Amanda successfully called her first spliced St Simons and St Martins (details). The second challenge of the day was to ring Ipswich Surprise Minor at Rampton (4cwt, 6). We also celebrated the success of this being Felicity’s 200th quarter peal (details). After a welcome lunch at the William IV pub at Fenstanton, the afternoon was less successful after attempting two further quarter peals at Fenstanton and Hilton – better luck next time! Thanks to Greg Pearce for organising a good spring quarter peal outing which included several Cambridgeshire towers where we hadn’t previously rung before. Here’s to the next one!
