Safeguarding

The Cherry Hinton Bellringers take seriously the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

As a local tower in the Ely Diocese we comply with the Ely Diocesan Association of Church Bell Ringers Safeguarding Policy and follow the association Guidelines on Safeguarding for Tower Captains. In addition the bellringers at Cherry Hinton comply with the the church's safeguarding policy as agreed by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St. Andrew's Church, Cherry Hinton.

Training of young people and vulnerable adults is always carried out with two or more responsible adults present at least one of whom (and preferably both) must have had a current DBS check and been appointed by the PCC as a bellringing trainer, tower captain or deputy.

A consent form must be completed for all children or vulnerable adults before they participate in bellringing training.
